BROADHEMPSTON COMMUNITY WOODLAND ART PROJECT

The trench round the perimeter of the structure is now complete, and the rest of this week will be dedicated to collecting stone for the construction of the dry-stone wall plinth.

If anyone has any unwanted stone, or knows of anyone who does, please could you let me know and I can collect it, or alternatively it could be left on site or neatly stacked in a corner of the Waytown car-park. Any amount would be very much appreciated.

I have collected enough to begin building though, so workshops this Saturday and Sunday will focus on dry-stone walling. You don't have to be enormously strong to take part, but if you don't fancy joining in with this one, feel free to come along anyway, we always need people to make the tea and/or take photo's for the web-site!

We will meet at the Waytown car-park at 10am, or come along to the pond at any time. Bring gardening gloves if you have them, and wear scruffy and/or waterproof clothes and footwear.

The footprint of the hide has been transposed onto the site, and the trench for the plinth almost completely dug out.

The stone wall plinth can be started tomorrow, although we are going to need a lot more stone.

If you're thinking of coming along tomorrow, wellies would be a good idea, and gardening gloves. Also bring along any stone you may have, and maybe a wheel barrow?

Meeting at 10am in the Waytown car-park, or anytime by the pond.

If you are intending to attend the workshops this weekend, please could you bring gardening gloves, spades, and a wheelbarrow if you have them. Also, do wear wellies!

If you have any stone you would be able to donate but are unable to transport, please could you leave a message on the 'contact' page or give me a ring on my mobile or land line.

Many thanks

Work is ready to begin on the cob hide in BCW.

The first workshops will be running over the weekend of the 24th and 25th July 2010. These will include marking out the designs onto the site, preparing the site for the construction of the stone plinth and collecting suitable stone. Please come along, and bring gloves and spades &C if you have them.

In the meantime, I will be in the woods, clearing some of the undergrowth from the site, and digging a drainage ditch to keep the hide above water. So please come along and join in. Everyone's welcome.

You can also help by donating large and medium-sized pieces of stone: the sort you see in local walls and rockeries. These can be left at the hide site, or neatly in a corner of the Waytown Cross car-park for me to collect.

Many thanks, hope to see you in the woods very soon.

BROADHEMPSTON COMMUNITY WOODLAND ART PROJECT

The Community Art Project in Broadhempston Woods will be beginning soon.

It will continue throughout the summer months and culminate in the erection of a wildlife hide at the head of the pond near Waytown Cross.

I would like as many members of the community to get involved as possible. So please let me have your ideas, comments, suggestions &C.

And of course, please come along and get your hands dirty.

Each weekend I'll try to have a workshop on whatever techniques are being used at that stage of the build. Each week's topic will be posted here in advance.

Throughout the week, I will be continuing with the work and would be very pleased to have your company and help.

I look forward to meeting as many members of the community as possible very soon.
